He was son of Daedalus, a cunning artificer of Greece.   At Crete he and his father were imprisoned, and they escaped by constructing wings for themselves.   As they flew in the sky, the boy soared too close to the sun and the wax in his artificial wings melted.   The result was: he fell into the sea and was drowned.
