[J-145] A Red-Letter Day 红字的假日
A neighbor of mine has four small children. One morning last summer she hung out her daily usual washing. But today clothes weren't the only things waving in the breeze. Old Glory proudly waved in front of the house.
“Carol, why the flag?” I asked. “Today's not a legal holiday.”
“Maybe it's not a legal holiday,” laughed Carol, “but it's certainly a red-letter day for me. Take a look at that clothes yard. It's the first time in eight years there hasn't been a diaper on my line!”
