A certain impoverished man had only one lined garment to wear when winter came. Seeing him shiver in the bitter cold, someone asked, “Can't you wear something other than this lined garment?” “Yes,” he replied, “but I would feel even colder if I wore the unlined garment in the depth of winter.”

某一个赤贫的人,冬天来时,只有一件夹衣可以穿。看见他在严寒中发抖,某人问道:「除了这件夹衣,你不能穿别的吗?」「可以,」他回说,「但我会觉得更冷,如果在隆冬时,穿上那单衣。」
