[J-188] The Issue of the Rape
A: How come an owl has a face like a cat's? B: They say one night a cat crept up a tree, saw a pretty hawk sleeping there, and got on her, and then— A: And then the hawk begot birdies with faces like cats'? B: Yes, and the birdies grew up to be owls, and the owls became nocturnal birds. A: Do you mean that's why they now do not or dare not sleep at night? B: Yes, and that's why they often hoot “tu-whit, tu-whoo” to warn one another: “To which and to who are you looking forward?”
2. “how come” = why (为何) 。
3. “tu-whit, to whoo” 是模仿猫头鹰的叫声,念音接近 “to which, to who”。
