[J-195] An Ignorant Forester
One day, Joe met with Mark's friend Mike. Mike told Joe he was a forester. Joe asked, “Are you an expert in forestry, then?” “No,” Mike answered, “I am just an officer in charge of a forest.” Joe asked again, “Do you know a lot of foresters?” and added immediately: “I mean animals of the forest. For example, a large gray kangaroo called forester and a forester which is a black moth with yellowish or whitish spots on each wing.” “Sorry, I really don't know those foresters,” Mike apologized. Joe then asked, “Is yours a case of ‘cannot see the wood for the trees'? ” Without a moment's hesitation, Mike answered, “No, mine is a case of ‘cannot see the foresters for the forest.' ”

2. 俗话「见树不见林」 (cannot see the wood for the trees) 指「见小不见大」,在此「见林不见林中物」 (cannot see the foresters for the forest) 反指「见大不见小」。
