[J-194] Poetry, Not Poultry
A kindergarten teacher was teaching the kids to recognize poultry. She said, “There is a kind of poultry. It has two legs, of course. But one thing you may not know is: It often rises with the sun. And it often crows until you wake up and get up. Now, Nell, what is it?” Upon hearing the question, Nell answered, “It's Mammy. She often rises with my brother. And she often crows until I wake up and get up.” “My goodness!” the teacher remarked. “Mammy has become Cockie. It is poetry, not poultry.”
