Little Sue was taking her first train ride. When night came, her parents saw her into an upper berth and then retired to their own quarters in another section. Alone and a little frightened, Sue called out at intervals: “Daddy, are you there? Mamma, are you there?”
After this had gone on for some time, an irritable old gentleman called out in a gruff voice: “Yes, Daddy is here, Mamma is here. I am here. We are all trying to sleep. Now, settle down, and for heaven's sake, stop making that noise.”
There was a long silence. Then a thin little voice called out, “Daddy, was that God?”
