He was Prometheus' son and Pyrrah's husband.   He was warned that a flood was coming to destroy the earth because of human wickedness.   So he built a chest in which he and his wife floated until they landed on Mount Parnasus.   Then they heard a voice: Veil your heads and cast behind you the bones of your mother.   Deucalion told his wife: Earth is our mother, and stones are her bones.  So they threw stones over their shoulders as they walked.   Then those stones thrown by Deucalion turned into men and those thrown by Pyrrah into women.   Thus, the earth was repopulated.
