Represented as a winged boy, he is the god of love and, some say, the son of Aphrodite (Venus) by various fathers: Zeus, Ares, or Hermes.   The Romans called him Cupid and said he always carried a bow from which he shot the arrows of desire at those who should fall in love.   But he was blind, as love was supposed to be blind, too.
