He was originally an Egyptian god, but later absorbed into Greek mythology and variously called Amen, Amon, or Amun.  He was often represented as a human body with a ram's head and large, curving horns.  At the temple of Siwa he had an oracle which rivaled Apollo's at Delphi in fame.
