Soapy was caught stealing an overcoat. The Magistrate asked him in court, “What was on your mind when you did that unlawful thing?” “It was still winter, you know. I only wanted warmth.” Soapy gave his answer without hesitation. “I thought I'd have a warm coat if I wasn't caught. If I was, then I'd have a warm corner somewhere in the dwelling you might send me to.”
