[J-185] To Gain or Lose?
Joe and Josie are man and wife. One morning Joe said to Josie: “Darling, my watch gains two minutes every day. I need to put it right repeatedly.” In response to this complaint Josie said: “No matter. You just wind it back.”
A few minutes later, just after stepping on the scales, Josie shouted out with joy: “My dear, you see? I've lost two kilos.” In response to this excitement Joe said: “No matter. You'll gain it back after you make up.”

Joe 是
Joseph (约瑟夫)
Josie
或
Josy
2. “man and wife” 即 “husband and wife”。 3. 4. “in response to”: 回应。 “no matter” (= it is no matter 或 it makes no matter): 没事的,没关系。 5. “put it right” = “set it right”: 将它调好、对准、弄对。 6. “make (oneself) up”: 化妆。
