[J-186] Crash Helmet
A mother was riding a motorcycle and carrying two little kids on it, one before her and the other behind her. A cop stopped her and asked, “Why don't you let the kids wear helmets?” “Why?” the mother answered. “Where can I find the size to fit their little tops?”
“Then why don't you put one on yourself in case—” The cop was about to warn her of the danger, but the mother immediately replied: “In case of a crash? Then do I have any reason to survive the two poor little things?” The cop was moved and desisted from giving a ticket.
“desist from”: 断了… “give a ticket”: 开 (罚) 单。
3. “in case of (+ n)” 或 “in case (that) + 子句”: 以防…;万一…;要是…。
