    博爱座

A senile coterie often goes on tour together, and they are used to taking the priority seats on trains or buses.  Once they were flying from Taipei to Tokyo. In the cabin they found some empty seats in the front part.  They mistook the seats for the priority seats reserved for senile people, pregnant women, and the handicapped.  So they moved to them and sat down on them.  A stewardess, however, soon came to tell them that the seats were for the business class, and asked them to move back to their own seats.  The senile coterie got indignant at once and refused to listen, protesting that they should be respected for their age.  Seeing the embarrassing situation, a tour guide then came over and gave this further explanation: Sirs, you really had better move back to where you were.  These seats are for those flying to New York, not for those flying to Tokyo.  Upon hearing this further explanation, the sirs became patient, and finally they were glad to return to their own seats.

年老的一小群同好经常一起出游,而习惯于在火车上或公交车上坐博爱座。有一次,他们从台北要飞往东京。在机舱里,他们发现有些空的座位在前面。他们把那些座位误以为是博爱座,保留给老人、孕妇和残障人士的。所以他们移到那些座位而坐上去。可是,有位空姐很快就来告诉他们说那些座位是给商务等级的,而要求他们移回到他们自己的座位。那群老人立刻变得很生气而拒绝听话,还抗议说他们的年龄应该受到尊敬。看到这令人困窘的情况,有位导游便过来,给了这个「进一步的说明」:「先生们,你们真的最好移回到你们原来的地方。这些座位是给那些飞往纽约的,不是给那些飞往东京的。」一听到这个「进一步的说明」,这些先生们就变成很耐心,而最后也乐于回到他们自己的座位。
